I am in need of a new smartphone and I am looking for something in the 5 inch size desperatly. So I hope one device will take off soon It sounds perfect.

While reading online I came up with the following alternatives:

IPhone SE 2020 – 4.7 inches (not an apple fan)

IPhone 12 – 5.4 inches (not an apple fan)

Sony Xperia XZ1 compact – 4.6 inches (too old by now but has a headphone jack)

Sony Xperia XZ2 compact – 5 inches (not available as new but android 10 is available)

Sharp Aquos R2 compact – 5.2 inches dual notch ( sounds perfect but is only availabe in japan….)

Ulefone Note 8P – 5.5 inches (low tech)

Please feel free and add to the list if you find something

    Salut,

You could add the latest releases from Unihertz, well not the Jelly 2, which is really tiny, but the AtomL/XL is interesting if you want a rugged model. Two problems : he’s a bit on the heavy side (232g), and also really thick, but its features are quite exhaustive, even including a talkie-walkie option on the XL.

I’m trying to list current compact models (well, those not too old and running at least Android 9) in this topic on HFR forum, if you want some other ideas : https://forum.hardware.fr/hfr/gsmgpspda/telephone-android/smartphones-android-compacts-sujet_33800_1.htm . Among them you can have a look at Samsung s10e, at first look the screen can seem large (5,8″) but the phone size is still rather compact. Google Pixel 4a may also be a good option.

    Salut,

The latest addition is the Balmuda Phone from a japanese Toaster company. With 4.9 inches it comes really close to onedevice. Costs are supposely high at 800 Euros.
